Week 22: Worship is praising and thanking God because…

Why does someone say, “God is good”? Do they really mean it? Do you believe He is good, and His steadfast love endures forever? When I say, “God is good,” I acknowledge that God has a good purpose for the problems I am going through or that the path He has me on is good, even if I don’t like it.

If you did not feel loved as a child and did not feel your parents were good to you, take a moment, breathe in deeply, and as you breathe out slowly, say, “God is good, and His love for me endures forever.” Do this several times each day. Many of us who have traumatic memories find it hard to accept that God is good and that His love endures forever.

King David knew firsthand that God is good. As a young lad, he spent days alone in the wilderness tending his father’s sheep. What would you do all alone in the wilderness with wild animals as you watched dumb sheep? Instead of being afraid or bitter, he turned to God and sang praises to Him on his harp. He didn’t have a Bible, but he got to know God through praise and being thankful for His goodness and love.

King David sang: Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! 2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise? –Psalm 106:1-2

You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. 29Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! –Psalm 118:28-29

Can you tell others of God’s mighty deeds? Can you say that God is yours? Today, declare His praise and give Him thanks because He is good and because His love is steadfast and endures forever. It is my prayer that you are dedicating time to worship God. As you go through the following worship scriptures, praise God for his goodness and love.
