WEEK 27: Worship is giving God glory.

It is amazing to watch the great athletes at the Olympics. As the winners receive their medals, you are happy for their great achievements. The winners are given glory for their hard work. People, like me, find glory in hiking through the woods or kayaking down a remote stream. The synonyms for glory are triumph, beauty, success, praise, and wonder.

God created the Universe, the earth, and everything in it through His Son, Jesus Christ, so He deserves our glory and wonder. Revelations 4:11 states, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” God created us for His glory, Isaiah 43:7 states, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” God gives us and the athletes ability and strength, so He deserves the glory.

Slowly immerse yourself in each verse below and ask yourself, what it means?

Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD; in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. – Isaiah 24:15

I am the LORD; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols. – Isaiah 42:8

Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the coastlands. –Isaiah 42:12

For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another. – Isaiah 48:11

Sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! –Psalm 66:2

Worship is adoring praise or sincere thanksgiving for all He has created or the gifts He has given you. Be careful when worshipping anything other than God because God is jealous, as explained in Exodus 34:14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God). I explain how Satan tempts you to worship him through idols in WEEK 25: Worship and serve God only. Satan tempted Jesus to worship him, so why wouldn’t he also tempt his followers to worship him? Satan tempts us to want others to give us glory for our achievements and abilities. John 12:43 states, “For they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.”

We learned in the last post how to worship God by offering ourselves as a living sacrifice. In 1Corinthians 6:17-20 explains how we are to glorify God in our bodies.

17)  But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
18)  Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
19-20)  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

We are to also glorify God in all that we do. 1Corinthians 10:31 states, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

As you worship God this week, remember worshiping God is giving Him glory.

WEEK 27 –July 2-July 8

Day 183-July 2—Worship God for sending Jesus, who gives us His authority.

[Jesus] said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will.” – Luke 4:6

Day 184-July 3—Worship God for giving us authority to tell Satan to be gone.

The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” 18And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” – Luke 10:17-20

Day 185-July 4—Worship God for answering prayers.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

Day 186-July 5—Worship God who forgives your sins and heals you.

For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? 6But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” –Matthew 9:5-6

Day 187-July 6—Worship God because He sees you as valuable.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 31Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. –Matthew 10:29-31

Day 188-July 7— Worship God for giving you the keys to His kingdom.

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19

Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. – Mathew 18:18

Day 189-July 8—Worship God for giving you the spirit of wisdom, knowledge, and power.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places. –Eph 1:17-20

Week 26: Worship God by offering a spiritual sacrifice.

How do you offer your body as a spiritual sacrifice? Romans 12:1 states, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Other versions begin this verse with “Therefore,” which means “in conclusion.” So, we need to look at the end of Romans 11. The Apostle Paul tells the believers in Romans 11:32-33; “For God has consigned [handed over] all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.” We may not understand why God delivers us over to disobedience, but verse 33 explains, “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!”

We know that God is merciful, and we are disobedient because of the sinful nature we inherited. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Now, Romans 12:1 makes sense; “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Verse 2 further explains how to be a living sacrifice, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

We must willingly sacrifice our sinful nature and, by God’s mercy, choose to renew our minds with the truth to know God’s will and then obey. For example, we naturally want to complain and be discontent. Being thankful is a spiritual sacrifice because we focus on being thankful instead of complaining (Ps. 50:23, 116:17; Phil 4:6; Col 4:2). It is our sinful nature to be self-centered and prideful, but being humble and giving honor to others by considering their interests is a spiritual sacrifice (Phil. 2:3-6). Forgiving others when they offend us is a spiritual sacrifice. What do you think?

Spiritual worship is focused on pleasing God by doing his will. Only He makes us holy and acceptable, so when we sacrifice our fleshly desires to obey God and serve Him, that is our living sacrifice and spiritual worship. Please leave a comment and share your thoughts about what it means to be a living sacrifice.

WEEK 26 – June 25 – July 1

Day 176-June 25—Worship God for strongly supporting us, who are blameless toward Him.

Day 177-June 26—Worship God who delights in the welfare of his servants.

Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!” – Psalm 35:27

Day 178-June 27—Worship God for His great love and faithfulness toward us.

Day 179-June 28—Worship God for answering our call for strength.

On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. – Psalm 138:3

Day 180-June 29—Worship God that He regards the lowly (humble).

All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth, and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD, for great is the glory of the LORD. 6For though the LORD is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he knows from afar. – Psalm 138:4-6

Day 181-June 30—Worship God that He will fulfill His purpose for you.

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. –Psalm 138:8

Day 182-July 1—Worship God that nothing is too hard for Him.

‘Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. – Jeremiah 32:17

WEEK 25: Worship and serve God only.

What do you think being a servant means? Do you think they are a slave doing everything someone wants, and they have no freedom? The Bible has a different definition. According to the Strong’s Hebrew and Greek dictionaries, it means to do the work of worship before God. He had the Israelites set up a house of worship for Him in the desert and assigned the Levite tribe to serve in the house of worship to move it, maintain it, offer sacrifices, keep it clean, guard it, and play music (1Chronicals 23-26).

A servant in the house of God is also called a minister, who attends to the needs of the church. God wants us to have an attitude of a servant toward His house and others. In Matthew 20:28, Jesus said, “Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus is our example of how He cared about others and met the needs of those around Him.

Are you aware that Satan tempts you to worship him through idols? Satan tempted Jesus to worship him, so why wouldn’t he also tempt his followers to worship him? This is what happened in Matthew 4:8-10, “Again, the devil took him [Jesus]to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”

This passage can be confusing as to why Satan would think he could give Jesus, who created all that we see and don’t see, the kingdoms of the world. 1John 5:19 states, “We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” I can write several posts about this topic; just know that Jesus has authority over the devil and so do we. Luke 10:17 states “The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!’” We need to know the word of God, so we know when we are being tempted and then speak out God’s truth to put down the temptation.

I find Jesus’s response to Satan interesting. He equates worshiping God with serving or ministering to Him. Deuteronomy 11:16 states, “Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them.” Interestingly, Strong’s definition of serve in this verse is to be a bondservant who is compelled to work as a slave. For example, money is an idol that many people are slaves to. Jesus said in Luke 16:13, “No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” I wrote a series of posts about idolatry that you can find on my page called, POSTS ABOUT IDOLATRY.

Malachi 3:18 states, “Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.” As you worship God this week, seek ways you can be a minister in God’s house and to those in need as your act of worship to Him. God is love and others know Him by the love of God in us. 1John 3:17 states, “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” May God bless you richly this week.

WEEK 25 – June 18 – June 24

Day 169-June 18—Worship God and give Him glory that we will be united with Jesus in Heaven.

Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready. – Revelations 19:7

Day 170-June 19—Worship God who made all things.

And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” – Revelations 14:7

Day 171-June 20—Worship God who lives forever and is worthy to receive glory.

And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”  – Revelations 4:9-11

Day 172-June 21—Worship God for His greatness is unsearchable.

Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. – Psalm 145:3

Day 173-June 22—Worship God who is mighty and not partial.

For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. – Deuteronomy10:17

Day 174-June 23—Worship God who delights in our obedience.

And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. –1Samual 15:22

Day 175-June 24—Worship God whose mercy is great.

Then David said to Gad, “I am in great distress. Let me fall into the hand of the LORD, for his mercy is very great, but do not let me fall into the hand of man.” –1Chronicals 21:13

Week 24: Worship God from morning to night.

Do you feel God is with you all day? Can you imagine holding His hand as He is walking with you, even in the hard times? Worshiping God every day has been an incredible experience for me. I feel closer to Him, and He is more personal to me. When I missed days of worship because I was focused on the busyness of life, I felt more stressed and anxious. But when I focus on an attribute of God, I feel so much peace and joy. I am reminded of Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Being focused on God gives me hope and peace, how about you?

This week’s worship focus is about praising God all day, “from the rising of the sun to its setting.” Psalm 113:1-3 states, “Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD! 2Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore! 3From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised!” Does praising God all day sound impossible? One way to praise God all day is to write the worship verse down and take time throughout the day to look over the verse and meditate on it. Another way to spend all day worshiping God is to maintain an attitude of prayer all day (1Thes. 5:17). I have begun singing praises throughout the day. Please leave a comment to share how you praise God all day.

As you take time each day to meditate on this week’s worship Scriptures, write them down. You have my permission to copy and paste the daily worship scriptures to a Word document to take with you so you can meditate on them throughout the day.

WEEK 24 – June 11 – June 17

Day 162-June 11—Worship God’s greatness.

Therefore, you are great, O LORD God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears. –2Samual 7:22

Day 163-June 12—Worship God who makes us glad.

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! – Psalm 30:11-12

Day 164-June 13—Worship God’s awesome deeds and power.

Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. Vs. 6) He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him. –Psalm 66:1-3, 6

Day 165-June 14—Worship God, who keeps our soul and keeps us from slipping.

Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard, who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip. –Psalm 66:8-9

Day 166-June 15—Worship God, who listens to our prayers.

But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me! –Psalm 66:19-20

Day 167-June 16—Worship God, who is worthy of glory for his love and faithfulness.

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! –Psalm 115:1

Day 168-June 17—Worship God, who blesses us.

He will bless those who fear the LORD, both the small and the great. 14May the LORD give you increase, you and your children! 15May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth! –Psalm 115:13-15

Week 23: Worship has no inhibitions.

Is praising God in public hard for you? It is hard to praise Him around non-church people. Why? Do you find it difficult to tell others about your children, grandchildren, or dog? King David wrote in Psalm 108:3-4; “I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. 4For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

The emphasis during this Worship focus is recognizing and removing all inhibitions about giving thanks and praising God for His many attributes and salvation to the unsaved world. Inhibition means you feel constrained, so you hold back your praise. Sometimes, we hold back our praise because we don’t feel comfortable or we are afraid of what others will think. King David felt no constraint when he worshiped God when the Ark of the Covenant was being brought to Jerusalem. He danced and shouted to the point that his outer clothing fell off (2 Sam.6).

Some people seem naturally outgoing and uninhibited about praising God in front of others. If you feel inhibited, ask God to show you what constrains you from being thankful and praising God in front of people. We should be more concerned about showing our love for God than what people think. We will spend eternity with God, so it only matters what He thinks.

In the last post, we learned that we praise God because he is good and has enduring love. This week, we will understand that we are to be thankful and praise God because His love is steadfast and so great it extends above the heavens. That God’s faithfulness reaches to the clouds. What does that mean? It means we can trust that God is full of faithfulness and love toward us, even when we are not faithful to Him. And that He loves us even when we are sinners. We know God hates our sins, but He loves each of us. By acknowledging our sins, seeking His forgiveness, and repenting then we will be reconciled to Him.

Why do I feel inhibited to praise God and give a testimony of God’s greatness? If I really loved God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength and loved others, then I would not want to hide my praise and thanksgiving about what God has done and is doing and can do in their lives. If they reject me or think I am a radical, then so be it. We are called to share our praises and testimony with others, and God will do the rest.

This week, as you praise and worship God, share your thankfulness about what God is doing in your life with others. The more you do this, the greater love you show God.

WEEK 23 – June 4 – June 10

Day 155-June 4—Worship God who is with you in all your troubles.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. –Isaiah 43:2

Day 156-June 5—Worship God for making all things new in your life.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” –Isaiah 43:18-19.

Day 157-June 6—Worship God for carrying you from birth to old age.

“Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.” –Isaiah 46:3-4

Day 158-June 7—Worship God for establishing his purpose in your life.

“Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors, remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.” –Isaiah 46:8-11

Day 159-June 8—Worship God’s redemption and lead you in the way you should go.

Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. –Isaiah 48:17

Day 160-June 9—Worship God’s comfort and compassion.

Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted. –Isaiah 49:13

Day 161-June 10—Worship God for teaching you His Word.

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. –Isaiah 50:4

Week 22: Worship is praising and thanking God because…

Why does someone say, “God is good”? Do they really mean it? Do you believe He is good, and His steadfast love endures forever? When I say, “God is good,” I acknowledge that God has a good purpose for the problems I am going through or that the path He has me on is good, even if I don’t like it.

If you did not feel loved as a child and did not feel your parents were good to you, take a moment, breathe in deeply, and as you breathe out slowly, say, “God is good, and His love for me endures forever.” Do this several times each day. Many of us who have traumatic memories find it hard to accept that God is good and that His love endures forever.

King David knew firsthand that God is good. As a young lad, he spent days alone in the wilderness tending his father’s sheep. What would you do all alone in the wilderness with wild animals as you watched dumb sheep? Instead of being afraid or bitter, he turned to God and sang praises to Him on his harp. He didn’t have a Bible, but he got to know God through praise and being thankful for His goodness and love.

King David sang: Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! 2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise? –Psalm 106:1-2

You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. 29Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! –Psalm 118:28-29

Can you tell others of God’s mighty deeds? Can you say that God is yours? Today, declare His praise and give Him thanks because He is good and because His love is steadfast and endures forever. It is my prayer that you are dedicating time to worship God. As you go through the following worship scriptures, praise God for his goodness and love.

For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” –Isaiah 41:13

Day 149-May 29—Worship God who keeps His promises.

I am the LORD; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. –Isaiah 42:6-7

Day 150-May 30—Worship God for bringing forth new things in your life.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth, I tell you of them.” –Isaiah 42:9

Day 152-June 1—Worship God, who is our stronghold and shelter.

For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall. –Isaiah 25:4

Day 153-June 2—Worship God for being our everlasting rock.

Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock. –Isaiah 26:4

Day 154-June 3—Worship God’s counsel and wisdom.

This also comes from the LORD of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom. –Isaiah 28:29

WEEK 21: Worship with Your Imagination.

Have you ever tried to imagine God’s awe-inspiring splendor? Several men in the Bible had visions of God and heaven. The visions were so majestic and grand that they were beyond words. Note: We know God is a spirit and is neither male nor female. The Bible refers to God as he, but the pronoun he, according to Dictionary.com (2024), can also be generic.

The Apostle John’s vision of the Son of God in Revelations 1:14-18, “The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16) In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. 17) When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

The prophet Daniel’s vision of God, whom he called “The Ancient of Days.” Daniel 7:9 says, “As I looked, thrones were placed, and the Ancient of Days took his seat; his clothing was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames; its wheels were burning fire.”

Prophet Ezekiel’s vision in Ezekiel 1:26-28, “And above the expanse over their heads there was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like sapphire; and seated above the likeness of a throne was a likeness with a human appearance. 27) And upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him. 28) Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.

King David’s vision. “Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent. 3He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind.”–Psalm 104:1-3

Our imagination is a powerful tool that can deepen our connection with God and enhance our worship. It allows us to envision His splendor, to feel His presence, and to engage more fully in our worship. As you worship God this week, imagine standing before Him as you praise Him.

Week 20: Worship through Praise.

What’s up with Praising God? Do you praise a family member or friend when they accomplish a feat? What do you say to a child when they overcome an obstacle or complete a difficult task? Praise is the act of expressing approval or admiration. If we praise people why should we not also praise God?

The first mention in the Bible of anyone praising God is in Genesis 29:35, which states, “And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, ‘This time I will praise the LORD.’ Therefore, she called his name Judah. Then she ceased bearing.” Leah praised God for giving her a child. The next person to praise God was Moses. In Exodus 15:2, when the Israelites crossed the Red Sea on dry ground. He sang a song to the LORD. Here is one verse he sang, “The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” Why did Moses desire to praise God? Moses experienced an amazing event performed by God. Do you praise God when you experience a miracle? Miracles happen more often than you think.

King David said, “Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD, give praise, O servants of the LORD, who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God! / Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing to his name, for it is pleasant!” –Psalm 135:1-3. When you find yourself in the presence of God, you want to praise Him. When I don’t feel like praising God, then I know I have moved out of His presence. I don’t feel like praising God when I am focused on my problems. But when I recount His goodness and past miracles and apply the truth to my present problems, then I want to praise God. Have you had a similar experience?

This week, as you focus on God and His goodness and salvation, praise Him. Every time you want to worry about this or that, look up and enter God’s presence and praise Him that He is in control, and everything will work out according to His purpose.

Week 19: Worship involves blessing.

Have you ever been blessed? Has anyone blessed you? One thing I know is how I feel blessed may not be how you feel blessed. What honors me may not honor you. I feel honored when someone does or says something kind to me. Or they acknowledge an accomplishment I did. Some people say that I am a blessing when I am helpful to them. Ask someone how you can bless them. Blessing someone shows honor.

So, what honors God? Is it adoring God as holy and glorifying Him for all his goodness, faithfulness, salvation, etc.? Or is He blessed by our obedience? Both are ways we can bless God. I also believe God is looking for sincere faith, repentance of sin, and humble adoration. 2Chronicals 16:9 states, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.”

Our focus passages this week are, “Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. 3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! 4For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.” –Psalm 96:2-4 And Psalm 100:4 also tell us, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

This Psalm passage tells us to sing to the Lord, bless His name, tell of His salvation from day to day, and give Him thanks. In the week 14 post, we discovered why worship is telling others about God’s amazing attributes and works. The week 15 post was worshiping with thanksgiving. And in week 16, we learned about worshiping by singing to the Lord. In this post, we will learn why we are to bless His name, which is explained in verse four; “For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.”

King David tells us why we are to bless the Lord in Psalm 103:1-5. “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2) Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

    •  who forgives all your iniquity,

    •  who heals all your diseases,

    •  who redeems your life from the pit,

    •  who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

    •  who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Read my post about Psalm 103.

As you worship God this week, think of ways you can bless God with your words, actions, telling others, and obedience.

The LORD reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! 2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. –Psalm 97:1-2

Day 132-May 12—Worship God for covering us with salvation and righteousness.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. –Isaiah 61:10

Day 133-May 13—Worship God for caring for His servants.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, my servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame. – Isaiah 65:13

Week 18: Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.

When you think of splendor, what comes to your mind? When you think of the splendor of holiness, what comes to your mind? So, what is holiness? The Bible tells us a lot about holiness. Strong’s dictionary says that holiness is a sacred place or thing, and it also means set apart and sanctified as holy. The Bible says, “Worship the LORD in the splendor (beauty) of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!” –Psalm 96:9.

We are told to worship God in the beauty of holiness. We know God is holy because Psalm 99:9 states, “Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the LORD our God is holy!” Being holy is being blameless (Eph. 1:4) and without blemish (Eph. 5:27). God never sins, so our sin separates us from God. We must seek God to search our hearts daily to show us any sins. Sin is anything that breaks God’s law of love in what we think, say, or do. When God shows us our sins, we must confess them and repent (1John 1:9). When we are forgiven and washed clean, then we can worship God in the splendor of holiness. Seek God daily to show you your sins, where you are not loving well according to how He loves. We also must repent by asking God to take the temptation to be resentful or sinful away and give us His heart of love and purity.

1Peter 1:14-16 states, “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” If God said we are to be holy, then we can and should be holy. That means we seek God to remove our sinful desires and give us His desire and daily walk in His love. Ephesians 5:1-2 states, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2) And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” If you have a hard time loving, please read the book on my website to work through the resentments and hurt from your past so that you can have the beauty of holiness in your life. With God’s help, you can worship Him in the splendor of holiness.

As you worship God this week, imagine what it will be like to stand before God. Will you tremble and fall on your face, or will you dance? It reminds me of the song “I Can Only Imagine.”

WEEK 18 – April 30 -May 6

Day 120- April 30—Worship God as your everlasting light and glory.

The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. – Isaiah 60:19

Day 121-May 1—Worship God for giving us the knowledge of Jesus.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. –2Corinthians 4:6

Day 122-May 2—Worship God’s wisdom, knowledge, hope, glorious riches, and power.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might. –Ephesians 1:17-19

Day 123-May 3—Worship God that you will be united with Him forever.

Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready. –Revelations 19:7

Day 124-May 4—Worship God for showing His love to you.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. –Romans 5:8

Day 125-May 5—Worship God for justifying and saving you.

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. – Romans 5:9

Day 126-May 6—Worship God for reconciling you to Himself through Jesus.

For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. – Rom 5:10-11
